Unsupported Tours

PERIGORD: 7 days on the Vezere and the Dordogne

DORDOGNE: 7 Day descent of the Dordogne

LOIRE: 7 Day descent of the Loire

CELE: 7 Days exploring the Cele & Lot rivers

Perigord Dordogne Loire Cele

These tours run without a support vehicle and driver, although they are still guided on the river. The tours rendezvous at a railway station close to our first river and as we travel from Inn to Inn we must carry all our luggage with us on the river and make and carry our own provisions for lunch. Where the unsupported tour follows the plan of a supported tour it should be remembered that 'off' river excursions cannot be included.

Not all our tours are possible in this manner as some hotels are not on the river bank and switching rivers would be difficult without transport.

This tour is [almost] identical to our regular, supported, 7 Day Perigord Tour.

The tour meets at the railway station in Les Eyzies. This is about a 6 hour journey from Paris.

We will stay in Les Eyzies for our first night and on the following morning our canoe outfitter will arrive to drive us upstream to Montignac to begin our 2 day descent back to Les Eyzies.

Our 2nd night will be spent in St. Leon-sur-Vezere and our 3rd night will be back in Les Eyzies.

On the morning of the 4th day will will transfer to the Dordogne river by taking the train from Les Eyzies to Siorac-en-Perigord, a journey of only 30 minutes.

Our outfitter for this river will meet us at the station and drive us upstream to Cazoules for our 3 day descent of the Dordogne.

After our first day paddling on the Dordogne we will stay the night at Vitrac. The next day will see us continuing downstream to Beynac for our 5th night and the last day will continue down to Siorac.

On the 7th morning we will take the train from Siorac back to Paris: a journey of between 6 and 7 hours.

This tour spends 5 days paddling down the Dordogne river.

The tour meets at the railway station in Siorac-en-Perigord. This is about a 6 hour journey from Paris.

Our outfitter will meet us here and drive us upstream to Carennac where we will stay for the first night.

Our 1st days canoeing will take us to  St. Sozy/Meronne and our 2nd down to Calviac-en-Perigord.

After this our 3rd day on the Dordogne takes us down to Vitrac, then our 4th down to Beynac and our 5th and last day down to Siorac-en-Perigord.

On the 7th morning we will take the train from Siorac back to Paris: a journey of between 6 and 7 hours.

The logistics for doing this tour without support is difficult. Bankside accomodation is difficult to find. I can try if you are interested or if you would like a camping version instead. Please contact me.

I can envisage doing this tour without support. The only difficulty is that it is a big river and the towns & villages are usually set back off the river above and beyond the levee. This would mean long carries from the boats to the accomodation & facilities.

A wild camping trip is very feasible. I've done this myself.

If you are interested in this kind of arrangement then please contact me. I'd be happy to arrange everything.
